Welcome back, I know you miss my mind-blowing and super awesome recommendations, so here is another one.

Actors which I know and I am assuming you know too

I call myself a victim of the Jake Gyllenhaal effect. It all started with Nightcrawler. I mean, what a movie! Jake was absolutely phenomenal in it. From that point on, my journey of Googling and obsessing over Jake Gyllenhaal movies began. He carries this one on his shoulders with the same phenomenal prowess. And let’s not forget, alongside him, we have Naomi Watts, who is equally amazing. But seriously, can someone please tell Jake to stop being so darn mesmerizing? My productivity is at an all-time low! PS: Please return my girl Taylor her scarf ffs.

And now you know

Plot

Everybody has different ways of coping with grief. Jake Gyllenhaal’s way? Well, let’s just say it involves a lot of demolition. Picture this: Jake is a Wall Street investment banker. He’s thriving, living on cloud nine, practically bathing in dollar bills. Along for the ride is his lovely wife, but then — plot twist! — life decides to take a wild 360-degree spin. In a tragic car accident, he loses his wife, and from there, it’s like watching a beautifully orchestrated train wreck.

Jake goes numb. Is he alright? Only he knows. Spoiler: probably not. As the story unfolds, he finds his peculiar brand of peace in tearing things down — literally. Everything he and his wife built together? Gone. Bulldozed. Sayonara.

Enter Naomi Watts. They connect immediately, but Jake soon realizes he isn’t quite over his wife yet. Such a journey this movie is. If you’re into emotional rollercoasters and watching Jake Gyllenhaal swing a sledgehammer like it’s therapy, this one’s for you. Grab your popcorn, and maybe a hard hat.

My wisdom regarding this movie

This movie gave me a whole new perspective on grief. Usually, we sympathize with people who cry and express their feelings openly, but we often criticize those who don’t show their emotions in the same way. I stopped judging people for how they express their feelings and felt okay with my own way of dealing with things. I related to Jake a lot. Whenever something traumatic happens, I shut down and have a stoic response to everything, which made me think something was wrong with me. But hey, it’s okay! If Jake Gyllenhaal can find solace in demolishing a house, I can find peace in my own way, too.

Conclusion

Just watch it~

Thank you for reading!
