Welcome back, I know you miss my mind-blowing and super awesome recommendations, so here is another one.

Actors which I know and I am assuming you know too

Back with the absolute finest my dearest, most favorite, ridiculously handsome man of the century, Mr. Jake Gyllenhaal. And guess who’s sharing the spotlight? None other than our OG rent-dodging Spiderman himself, Tobey Maguire! .And hold onto your seats, because the queen of elegance, my very, very, very (did I say very?) favorite Natalie Portman is here too. This is basically my dream cast after the Avengers assembled, except this time, instead of fighting Thanos, they’re fighting feelings.Oh, and if that wasn’t enough, Carey Mulligan also makes an appearance! That’s right, folks, it’s a mini Great Gatsby reunion — minus the crazy parties and champagne fountains, but hey, we’ll take it. Here are their looks —

And now you know

Plot

Ohhh boy, this one’s a rollercoaster and not the fun kind with cotton candy at the end, but the kind that drops you from emotional heights and leaves you questioning life. So, picture this: Tom, a soldier, is off in Afghanistan, doing the whole “protect and serve” thing, while his wife Natalie and their two kids are at home, praying he’s still breathing every single day. Brutal? Absolutely. My abandonment issues are screaming just thinking about it.

They were in constant touch, texting, calling, all that cute long-distance sadness until one day, poof, he disappears. No calls, no updates, just gone. Natalie loses her mind, because what else do you do when your entire world vanishes? She grieves, accepts that Tom isn’t coming back, and tries to pick up the shattered pieces of her life with the support of her family. And then, enter Jake, the brother also grieving, also lost, also dealing with the biggest plot twist of his life. The pain bonds them, one thing leads to another, and BOOM. Guilt. Shame. Confusion. It’s messy, it’s human, it’s every therapist’s dream case study.

But just when they think they’ve figured things out guess who decides to reappear? TOM. IS. ALIVE. Not just alive, but coming home.

Except… the Tom who comes back? Yeah, he’s not the same Tom who left. This is where things take a wild turn. Want to know how this ends? Watch the movie.

My wisdom regarding this movie

This movie was weirdly comforting for me. Why? Because I love it when people completely wreck their lives. Nothing makes me feel more seen and heard than watching characters make terrible, emotionally charged decisions. Natalie, girl, I see you, and I see what you did there. And honestly? I get it. She lived through one of my personal nightmares, and let me tell you I just CANNOT. No ma’am. Not me. I would simply evaporate.

The movie starts off slow and simmering, letting you marinate in the messy, chaotic, beautifully complicated human emotions before things explode. And let’s be real the cast carries this film like it’s their full-time job (because, well, it is).

The acting? Top freaking notch. It’s so real, so raw, I had to remind myself this isn’t a documentary. Seriously, whoever did the casting? Give them a raise.

Conclusion

Just watch it~

Thank you for reading!
