Welcome back, I know you miss my mind-blowing and super awesome recommendations, so here is another one.

Actors which I know and I am assuming you know too

As a fan of women-centric movies, I’m beyond excited to share the cast of this one with you! In the lead, we’ve got the stunning, brilliant, Harvard-educated Natalie Portman, bringing her chef’s kiss acting range to the screen. And if that wasn’t enough, we’re also blessed with the dazzling, drop-dead confident Mila Kunis. Like, can we even handle this much power in one movie? Now, hold onto your seats because I’m about to show you their looks in this film — and trust me, you’re ‘not’ ready for this level of fabulousness!

And now you know

Plot

So, ladies and gentlemen, good news: you do ‘not’ need to know a single thing about ballet for this movie! The story kicks off with Natalie Portman, who’s living with her ‘super’ overbearing mom — typical. She’s a hardworking dancer clawing her way to be the next Swan Queen, and let me tell you, the competition is ‘fierce’ It’s like America’s Next Top Model but with more pointe shoes and less Tyra Banks.

We get to see Natalie ride the emotional rollercoaster on this Swan Queen journey — stress, tears, the whole drama package. Things get so intense that Natalie starts having psychosis episodes and goes into full-on “I’m gonna fight myself” mode, aka self-harming. She’s this naive, innocent, people-pleaser trying to unleash her inner dark side to ‘nail’ the role. And when you’re obsessed with perfection, well… let’s just say things get ‘weird’, and suddenly, we’re in horror territory.

Why is this movie in the horror genre? Oh, you’ll find out. Let’s just say ballet is no joke!

My wisdom regarding this movie

Let me tell you, “narcissistic mother and naive, innocent, daughter about to completely lose her mind” is my favorite genre! Seriously, your girl is taking notes. This movie’s kinda old — I watched it way, way back — and honestly? I didn’t fully grasp all the emotional rollercoaster stuff at first, but it was intriguing enough to keep me hooked.

So, I gave it another go last week, and ‘whoa’, it was no joke. Natalie didn’t just crack under the pressure, she straight-up went feral. Thanks to the absolute circus of people around her, she spirals into this mess of raw emotions, anxiety, and breakdowns. Honestly, it’s more like emotional horror than anything else.

Natalie’s character? Helpless, a total pushover, and everyone’s personal doormat. But watching her deal with all of it, even when she was drowning, was something. Not perfect, but hey, no one said ballet or mental breakdowns would be easy!

Conclusion

Just watch it~

Thank you for reading!
