In this Steven Spielberg movie, you’ll get to see Emily Osment’s brother, Haley Joel Osment, who plays David. Remember him from *The Sixth Sense*? Yeah, the kid who saw dead people. One of the finest child actors ever, even if he probably had a hard time convincing people he didn’t see ghosts in real life. And hey, you’ll also get to see Jude Law! Here’s how they look:
Plot
This was a movie about a couple who couldn’t have children, so they created a robotic child to fill the void in their hearts. But then a natural disaster struck, wiping out the entire human race. When a new group of beings arrived much later, they found the robotic child, still searching for his mother in a world that no longer existed.
The leader of these beings told the boy that he could bring his mother back for just one day if he could find her DNA. The boy, clinging to the faintest hope, remembered a day long ago when he had held a strand of her hair. He began his desperate search, determined to bring back the one person who had meant everything to him. Miraculously, he found the hair, and his mother came back to life for one fleeting day, allowing him to feel her love one last time.
My wisdom regarding this movie
I will not lie, this is one of the saddest movies I have ever seen. I cannot fathom the thought of a robotic child craving nothing but love and acceptance from his mother. I was simultaneously mad and bawling my eyes out. Steven Spielberg outdid himself once again. The acting, the CGI, everything was astonishingly good for a 2001 movie.
Definitely a must-watch movie, and please keep tissues ready. You’ll need them for the tears that this heartbreaking story will undoubtedly bring.
